“13 “I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. 14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. 15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17 Sanctify them by[d] the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. 19 For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.” – John 17:13-18
This week in our series “The Handiwork of God” we will be discussing how we cannot do the good work that God has planned for us to do long ago unless we understand we are called to be sanctified, and that His word is what sanctifies us. We are unable to do the master’s work unless we know what the masters business is. The best way for us to do that is to be committed intimately to the word of God, allowing those words to transform us, helping us live lives that are not enslaved by our fleshly desires but instead enslaved by the Spirit of God. When we allow this transformation to take place we can then start to produce the fruit (good works) that God has planned for us to do; fruits that are driven by love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. This transformation is possible because Jesus chose us, He chose us to go out and bear fruit, fruit that will last; we are told this is John 15:16, “ You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.” Join us this Sunday at 10am, we hope you will be inspired, that you will enjoy the great fellowship, and that you will start your transformation with us, we hope to see you!
