“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” This was the cry of David, however, it should be something that we all ask God for. For the reason that we cannot be fully in tune with what God is calling us to if we have not given him full dominion of our heart. In the book of Joel chapter 2, we learn that God doesn’t want our stuff he wants our hearts. Verse 12 states “12 That is why the LORD says, “Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning. 13 Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead.” The Israelite’s were following the law of what they felt God wanted them to do but their hearts weren’t fully committed, they were called to repent and turn back to God and give Him the sacrifice of their hearts. This might be where you are currently, maybe you’re going through the motions, you may be attending church physically but your heart is absent. This Sunday we are going to be challenged to ask God to create in us a clean and pure heart, to restore in us the joy of our salvation, and renew a right spirit within us. God wants to shape us to be more like him and it starts from the inside, it starts with what drives you, it starts with your heart. Join us Sunday at 10am as we open God’s word, and open our hearts to receive His message so we may start the process of not conforming to this world but instead be transformed by the renewing of our minds to understand what God’s will is for us, His true and perfect will!
