HAPPY NEW YEAR! It’s a new year and a new year is always a time to be challenged and to work towards a better you. What if I told you that God has big plans for you and He has been shaping you and preparing you for a great calling. We are going to start a new series this Sunday called S.H.A.P.E.d.
S.H.A.P.E.d is an acrostic:
S-piritual gifts
H-eart
A-bilities
P-ersonality
E-xperience
This year I want us to see how God is using each of these to shape us to serve Him better individually and collectively. We will be starting our series with with spiritual gifts, gifts are always confusing to people because for some reason people feel that they have out grown, or aged out of, have lost, or don’t even have gifts. This week I would like to share with you that you have a gift, it may be different than mine, but it is vital and important nonetheless. God made us so that apart we may to good things for the kingdom of God, however, he made us so special that when we unite with our church family and combine all of our different gifts we can do things we couldn’t even dream about! I like to use the analogy of VOLTRON because I am a product of the 80s Voltron was an awesome cartoon. The show featured astronauts that piloted a super robot called Voltron, each pilot drove its own ship, while separated they had their own personality and own power and gift and worked toward the cause, however when they united, they formed Voltron and they were a force that was unified and no foe could stop them! I like to think of our church family the same way! Wouldn’t it be great if we all understood each other’s worth and the ultimate cause we are working toward? Wouldn’t it be great if we understood that God has given us some gifts that while separated from the family can do good things and when unified in all of Gods glory we can accomplish GREATNESS through the spirit God has sent to dwell with in us? We will discuss this in depth this Sunday, we will have some fun, and we will be challenged and hopefully we will move into 2016 a well-oiled machine united in the Goal of God’s service!
See you Sunday at 10am
