This week in our series, "Come as you are" we will be discussing how Christ wants us to come to him in all circumstances of life, this Sunday we will be unpacking how Jesus wants us to come to Him even in our despair. Some times in life the unexpected happens and we are faced with trauma or some sort of crisis in our life. When the unexpected happens we can slowly or rapidly lose hope of what is to come because we are trapped in the despair of what has happened or what is currently happening. Often times what has happened to us cant be explained, and we feel we need answers to be better. But Jesus lets us know through Him and only him there is hope, hope where healing can happen. I hope you can join us this Sunday at 930 for class where we will be looking at the Lords prayer, and 1030 for worship where we will be celebrating our faith in prayer, praise and communion and be educated and edified by Gods word by our minister Ghavinn in his sermon about turning from despair to HOPE. visit egchurchofchrist.org for more details. ... Our minister doing what he does best: "With our church's desire to help bring wellness, especially mental health wellness to our community, I was given the opportunity today to speak with a group of 4th graders and a group of 1st graders at Feickert elementary school about the importance of pouring goodness into each other, with our words and our actions. I got to do a fun illustrations to show them the more we pour truth and goodness into each other the less room we will have to store negativity that comes with feeling inadequate or bullies. Also when are are kind not only are we filling each other up but we start to feel good about our selves and our lives too. The great thing about this is when we feel good about ourselves, our peers and adults in our lives and are constantly being filled with goodness by each other, when faced with the negative comments of people speaking accidentally or purposely to harm us, their words will no longer have room to impact us. I love being able to encourage young people to build their capacity for compassion and self confidence, and I've noticed when hanging out with these kids and seeing their hearts, and watching them put in to practice what we talk about in treating each other with kindness and respect, I know our future is in good hands. Let's all join in on this challenge with our kids to spread kindness to others." ... See MoreSee Less

*New series *. "Come As You Are" will be a series that gives us the understanding that Christ isn't looking for perfect people to be drawn to him but rather those that are, broken, tired, poor in spirit...etc, basically those in need of a savior. I think unconsciously the church has made people feel that they need to have there lives together before coming to Christ, or have enough knowledge, or dressed the right way, or speak and look a certain way, but when I look at Christ's ministry he met people where they were at, in all of their messes. In mark chapter 2 Jesus calls Levi, a tax collector, to follow him. So he asks him to dinner abs Levi brings all of his friends, many that struggle in their sins, and the Pharisees didn't like it. “When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?” On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.””
Mark 2:16-17 NIV
Jesus has come to call us, the broken, tied, struggling in our sins, mess of people to HIM, not when we are changed and perfect, but as we are, allowing His power to change us.

New series coming after youth Sunday. Let's marinate on this scripture for a week, ““Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.””
Matthew 11:28-30 NIV

Tomorrow we will be ending our series "Spirit and Truth." This lesson will be on how we need the spirit to help us discern what is truth. Let's face it, Satan is good at what he does, there is a reason he is called the father of lies, he's been in the business of deceit for a long time. If we aren't actively connected to the father we will easily be swayed to believe Satan's lies. Jesus leaves us a helper when he left to be with the father that helps us with this, scripture tells us, "7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. 8 When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 about sin, because people do not believe in me; 10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11 and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned." - John 16:7-11 join us as we delve deeper into this understanding of needing the spirit to help us see the truth, truth that sets us free. See you at 930am for class and 1030am for worship. Visit egchurchofchrist.org for more information. ... See MoreSee Less

Can’t wait to see new faces at our Youth Day!
September 9, 2018, will be a fantastic day of worship as the entire congregation celebrates the youth of the church with a youth hosted and led day of worship.
The theme of the day’s activities will be “Keeping it 100” and that’s what we will be doing as the youth lead us in our Sunday worship time and some lunch and other activities following worship time.
There will be worship, food, games, Christian music and videos, and more exciting activities and events.
All adults need to come out and enjoy this day and see just how powerful our youth are now and how much more powerful they are becoming everyday as the Spirit leads them in their lives.
Don’t miss out on this awesome day of worship and fellowship. ... See MoreSee Less
Need to share a great story of encouragementi received Sunday:
Sunday morning when I stepped into the auditorium after worship practice I met a visitor. This wasn't a normal visitor, it was a wonderful woman from Jamaica, she moved to elk grove 9 months ago. For over 3 years she knew she'd be moving to elk grove and got online and started searching for a church. She found us, and for 3 years watched every sermon online. She watched through two moves, the selling of our building, the rental year, and the move to the new building. She was so happy to be a part of the family she's been watching for years. I couldn't have been more humbled by her graciousness and love for our church. (Interesting for me was she had no church of Christ background either) technology is amazing and God is great!! ... Thank you to everyone who helped pass out water to the homeless today, with temps close to 100° it is hard to be on the streets. We passed out over 200 bottles of water today, to give as much relief from the heat as we could. Thank you church for being examples of God's love to the marginalized. ... See MoreSee Less
Today we continue in our series "Spirit and Truth" and will be spending time talking about how we worship God in truth. Unless we have knowledge of the God we worship, there is no worship in truth. When we look into scripture we find scriptures like "So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ." Romans 10:17. We see here that our faith is built on the hearing and understanding off the Word of God. With that said, believing comes from the willingness to actually put into practice what you've heard. We hope you can join us today when we delve deeper into the study of worshiping God in truth. class starts at 9:30am and worship starts at 10:30am.
