The Handiwork of God: Get Out of Gods Way
Our world has a problem and the problem is impatience. Think about this for a second, we have microwaves that can cook full meals in minutes if not seconds and we still complain that it takes too long. We can drive up to a drive through window to get (fast) food for the whole family and if it isn’t ready from the time we order to the time we reach the window to get it we become agitated. We even have phones that are like computers and we can look up information and receive it immediately, we can watch shows and fast-forward through commercials because we don’t like to wait. We as a society get really impatient if we don’t get what we want, when we want it. The same feeling comes while we wait for God’s blessings too. While we wait for the lord we think that maybe He needs our help because He is obviously taking too long to help our current situation. This isn’t really a new thing, we see it in scripture way back in the first book of the bible when Abram was promised to be the father of a nation, that his descendants would be too numerous to count, and as he and Sarai waited they became older and older and more and more impatient. So instead of waiting for God’s promise and being patient, they decided to help God out and create their own solution. When we implement our own plans instead of waiting on the Lord we almost always regret them. This week we will discuss how in order to be the Handiwork of God, to do the great things that He has planned for us to do, we have to get out of His way and let Him direct our lives and allow Him to work through us. I encourage all of you to join us this Sunday at 10am as we look into Genesis 16 and learn from Abraham and Sarah (Abram and Sarai) on how we can get in God’s way, which hinders us from fully receiving His blessings and provisions, and what we need to do in order to get out of His way so he can mold us into his masterpiece.
